PVC pipes for Plumbing and Drainage Systems

In a fully operational building, there are many factors which are responsible for the functionality of it. One of the important steps in the proper functioning of a building is its water distribution system. Water, we all know, is an important resource which is essential for survival. This goes without saying that water distribution systems implemented should be effective enough to supply water in the entire building. There are different types of drainage and plumbing systems in a building. The potable water system comprises of pipes and fittings of different material whereas water for other purposes is supplied from other plumbing applications.

For the supply of water, plumbing pipes and fittings are very important but let us admit we do not even have a bit of proper knowledge about plumbing pipes. There are hundreds of pipe manufacturers in market these days who sell various types of plumbing applications. In earlier times, there were metal and concrete. For the supply of potable water as well as the release of sewage, it was the metal and concrete pipes used majorly. But in the recent times, PVC pipe is used in all sorts of plumbing and drainage applications.

These are used majorly by people across the globe. A PVC pipe is generally considered ideal for all water distribution systems. These are preferable because of the following reasons:

a. Strong and durable: these pipes and all the fittings which are made up of PVC are very strong. Their strength makes them durable which ensures their longevity. It is advised to implement such pipes which can supply water for long period of time and PVC pipes are made in order to fulfill that.

b. Resistant to Corrosion: metal pipes which have been used for ages for the supply of water in potable water system, as well as drainage system, corroded easily. They used to make the drinking water unsuitable for consumption inviting a whole lot of disorders. This is why PVC pipes and fittings are used in order to ensure that water which is supplied through them is free from any sort of disease.

c. Inexpensive: these are preferred over metal and concrete pipes because the cost involvement in the manufacturing as well as implementation. PVC pipes are opted over metal and other pipes because they are available at reasonable prices making them cost-effective.

d. Light-weight: the weight of a PVC pipe is quite a benefit when it comes to its implementation. These pipes are light in weight making their handling and transportation easier.

In potable water system, there is another type of PVC pipe is used which is known as CPVC pipe. These are chlorinated ensuring the supply of potable water is done without making the drinking water toxic. It is better to buy PVC pipes than metal pipes.
